Sedona Hotels
I was originally looking into the Enchantment Resort. But a few people at work today told me to just have lunch there and that it wasn't worth the money. Is that true? A few suggestions I got were the Amara Creek Resort and Radisson Poco Diablo Resort. Does anyone have anything to say about these two places?
Thanks!

Dear June:
A while back, someone who stayed at Amara Creek posted a trip report. I remember it was positive. From what I've seen in reports here, the Enchantment is fabulous. Remember, this is a special trip that deserves a special place.
Good luck with you planning.

Hello June Bride,
Amara Resort...No. Spouse and I had made res to spend a few nights with their grand opening special. After our long drive to Sedona, upon arrival, the construction workers were still swarming all over the property. After walking around and asking workers where is the general manager. Well, after we found him, he told us the hotel was not yet open for business. You can imagine how disappointing it was to us. GM made other res for us to stay in other, OLDER resort. It was in the middle of summer and this resort did not have any a/c. Needles to say we did not take GM up on his offer, but opted to stay at the L'Auberge de Sedona instead.
Have you looked into staying at the El Portal B&B? It is located within Tlaquepaque shops/restaurants. Take a peek on the 'net, you can check out the beautiful rooms.
We recently stayed at the Briar Patch Inn, cozy cottages, right along creek side in Oak Creek Canyon. The cottages are quite rustic and the grounds are simply beautiful.
The Radisson Poco Diablo is an older property and not too noteworthy for this special occasion.
Good luck.
Francie

I stayed at the Amara Resort after all the construction was done and thought it was a lovely place to stay. It's set way back off the road and the creek is behind some of the buildings so you don't have the street noise. They had a wedding on the grounds while I was there that looked well managed. There is a restaurant and a bar but we only enjoyed the bar. The rooms had an extremely comfortable mattress with plush linens. I felt very pampered and would go back.

You can do better than the Poco Diablo. I have not read good reviews, and saw the property; it is nothing special. L'Auberge de Sedona or Enchantment would be my choice, especially if money weren't an issue.
The B&Bs mentioned by another poster look awfully nice. They were beyond what I wanted to spend but if I'd had the $, I was really considering The Briar Patch.

Hi! I stayed at the Briar Patch Inn in August. It was lovely. It's in Oak Creek Canyon, just a quick drive outside of Sedona. Great scenery--very quiet. The staff was very helpful. They serve a fabulous breakfast by the creek. Loved every minute of my stay there!
Have a great trip,
Kristen

We stayed at the Enchantment Resort for 5 nights and can't imagine why anyone would give it poor reviews. It is a beautiful resort in a spectacular setting. We had the casita with the murphy bed, fireplace, sitting area, kitchen, bathroom with granite countertops, large patio with built in grill--all looking out at Boynton Canyon.
Great hiking in the area--right there in Boynton Canyon. We also loved the Doe Mountain hike--easy hike for great vistas.
We visited in Feb. when they offered off season rates. We didn't usse the pool or spa but they both looked very nice.

My husband and I stayed at the Canyon Villa Inn and absolutely loved it. The room had a jacuzzi, a fireplace and an amazing view of Bell Rock right from your bed. They served a delicious breakfast and afternoon appetizers. Very nice place. Would stay there again.

Enchantment is simply magic. You feel the energy when you're there. Worth every dime. Hike up to mountains where you'll stop and stare...it would seem liquid silver has poured over striated red rocks after a rain. There is nothing like it.

Amara Creekside Resort, construction completed, is a beautiful place, most like a boutique hotel. We found the staff very helpful and pleasant and the rooms very well decorated and comfortable with great mattress and linens, though the room was a little small. The grounds are very nice, and the creek is beautiful though not all rooms have a view. It is just down the hill from the main street with many shops and restaurants (all very touristy but lots of people like this), and the staff will cart you up and down the hill if you don't want to walk. The Inn on Oak Creek is a beautiful bed and breakfast with great views on the creek and in a slightly quieter area of Sedona. The breakfast was quite good and the common area room is very quaint with great view.

Don't stay at the Poco Diablo Resort. My husband and I had reservations for a trip last March. I read some poor reviews and then called to ask a few questions and found out that part of it was going to under construction. They were rude and didn't answer my questions so I cancelled the reservation and decided to look into staying in a b&b instead. We stayed 2 nights at Boots and Saddles and loved it. The decor was perfect, the breakfasts great and the hosts were there to meet us upon arrival with fresh cookies and coffee. Check it out at http://www.oldwestbb.com/
