Secluded accommodations on Kauai
I'm beginning to change my thinking a little bit about where my wife and I want to stay in Kauai for our 30th anniversary. Since privacy is probably a little more important than being close to a beach (we can always drive there), I'm now looking at these places:
Jungle River Hideaway: http://www.vrbo.com/52010
Aloha Sweet Seclusion:
http://www.kauai-honeymoon.com/Sundeck.htm#
Has anyone stayed at either one or do you have any other suggestions for a "jungle hideaway on the north side of the island that is still a fairly short drive to the beaches?
Thanks so much!

We're gonna check this place out next year when we are in the area. I've always liked the look of it.

BillyBoy -- that one is in mosquito-land also...and mauka (inland) from the highway.
Unless you are dead-on oceanfront, anything from Anahola and north will have night-time mosquito infestations, year 'round. We love it when the tradewinds blow at 10mph or higher -- keeps those buggahs on the run!
And now...just to confuse rental-hunters even more...I've found a new rental agency website with some places I can actually recommend (yay!). Here's the site:

And here are some places I'd love to stay:

Before we bought our Kaua`i house, we thought we might buy one of these Princeville "condos". Didn't do it (drat!), but still think about owning one someday. And now they have 2 as vacation rentals!!
Not secluded, but each unit is stand-alone and well separated from any neighbors...and each unit has its own "dipping pool" (kewl, eh?) with a 6ft stone wall surround:
