Seattle - Whidbey Island

Does anyone have any experience with lodging (<$125 per night) anywhere on Whidbey Island? I have noted mostly B & Bs, but I would just be looking for something for 1 night. I will be traveling from Seattle to Olympic NP via that route, and though I thought I could make it to Port Townsend for accomodations initially, timing is such that, unless I want to rush through Whidbey, it may be a first stop. Thanks!

The Captain Whidbey Inn is where my extended family stayed when they visited. We lived in the area so did not stay there. The inn was well liked and has had a great reputation for years. I have not checked the rates lately, but I believe the website is www.captainwhidbey.com.

Another option is the Coupeville Inn. I have not stayed there either, but have been in the lobby and spoken to the owners when we were there for a marathon a few times. The owners are very gracious and were so helpful to the marathoners that I can only imagine they must be gracious hosts at their inn as well. This inn is also right in downtown Coupeville which is a cute little town.

Thanks for the suggestions! One is a little over my budget, but both look nice. There appear to be many places to stay on the island but vary a lot in location and prices.

Some motel/B&B listings at http://www.visitwhidbey.com/. The places in Coupeville and Freeland look nice but I have no personal knowledge. I wouldn't suggest Oak Harbor - out of the way and quite charmless.

See if you can find out about the "B&B" which I think is a loose use of the word down by the marina in Langley. Sorry but I cannot remember the name. There were rooms with kitchenettes and I think were perhaps in your price range. Langley is a great place to stay on Whidbey. You will be right off the ferry if that's what you take. There are lots of places to eat and it's a sweet town to wander around in. We used it as a stopping place back to Seattle from Vancouver. We stayed at the Inn at Langley which I think is $200/noc but perhaps they have deals.

Thanks! Langley sounds like a great location, as I am doing an afternoon Boeing tour, then taking the ferry across to ?Clinton, probably getting on Whidbey Is. at 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I am ultimately headed to Port Townsend, but didn't think I would have enough time to investigate Whidbey at all in such a short time. As you pointed out, though, many of the places in Langley seem to be a little more expensive than my budget. I will try searching for the B & B's there.
