Seattle - what's a girl to wear?
For our late July trip...I have the basic list going for what to pack as far as hiking/exploring go.
I'm wondering what to bring to wear to dinner and around town, tooling around the islands at this time of year? I'm from Florida, so I have bermuda shorts, capris and sundresses...are they going to be out of place for daytime? I'll bring light sweaters because I often am cold.
55 degrees at night sounds pretty darn chilly to me...what is appropriate for dinner if at a moderately priced place? I guess I'll need to dig out the coat!
Don't want to look or feel too much like a tourist!
Thanks so much!

LOL - well, our three weeks of summer might be in full swing while you're here, but on the other hand it could be pouring rain some of the time.
You'll probably be "cold" some of the time, but most days and nights you'll be fine if just using your instincts to pack.
Hope you like the area here.

I found Seattle to be a pretty casual town. It does get cold at night though, so bring the sweaters and jackets... I'd leave the stilettos at home though.
LOL - You WILL look like a tourist in a "coat" though! A nice sweater will do.
Enjoy! I love Seattle and the area in the summer.

You can wear jeans to almost any restaurant here. Even some of the finer dining, jeans (albeit designer)can be seen in the bar.
We're a casual city. In the wet season (all 9 months of it), you'll see guys downtown in their business suits with their north face back packs on. It's pretty funny, actually.
I'd recommend checking the weather closer to your travel date. As mentioned, what you get can differ. We've had weather in the 90's this past week, and rain in the 60's the week previous.
But, late July is a "better" time of year to visit.

If you don't want to look too much like a tourist and you want a great souvenier of Seattle, than iv'e got a idea for you. Seattle has a very unique scruffy look. Kind of a rock/international/artistic look. If you can, go to Pike place market, and inside the building on the upper floor there is a really cool store. I forget it's name, but it sells products made by local artists. Things like scarfs, purses, and even some paintings. Perhaps you could buy a accesory and add it to your outfit.

It's a casual town.
When I lived in Seattle (2 years ago), I wore jeans and a Patagonia fleese pullover almost every day (of course, most of my time was spent at UW).
I'd bring a sundress or two with a sweater for dinners.
Have a great trip! Seattle is a fun city to visit.
