Seattle nightlife - Dress code?

Hi! My friend and I are going for a girls weekend to Seattle, and we want to hit a few clubs while we are out there. We have never been to Seattle, and will be there this weekend. We are wondering if people dress casual for the clubs or if we need to pack anything dressier than jeans/dressy top? Thanks!

Generally speaking, Seattle has no dress code! We're seriously casual out here. Maybe depends what age group and which clubs you're talking about, but what you describe would be fine anywhere I can think of.

Well, you don't say how old you are or where you'll be going, but like Suze said, this is a VERY casual town. In a lot of clubs (ie the many rock clubs) you would stick out like a sore thumb if you dressed up.

Thanks to you both! We are both in our 30's and are interested in live music, microbrews or possibly a dance club - nothing specific in mind, we looked at a club called the Crocodile but otherwise, no specific place. We are staying in the downtown area, near Pike Place market.

Ditto. Hip/trendy/funky boutique style clothes would be fine, but you won't need to dress up at the Croc.
I haven't gone dancing in years, but I suspect women dress up more at dance clubs.

black pants with a dressy tank top if you are going out dancing. Dark jeans with the same tank top for dancing or music. As the others have said you will find it quite casual.

BTW- I met my husband at a show at the Croc!
