Seattle - how far is Port from Airport?

Hi all:

Can anyone tell us how far the Port (cruises) is from the airport? We are flying in late at night and are thinking of just staying at an airport hotel and then getting over to the port the next day.

Also, after our cruise we thought we would stay a couple of days. Would you stay right by the port or not?

Thank you.

The cruise terminals are very close to downtown, Terminal 66 being a couple of miles closer than Terminal 30.

Figure a 20-min, $25 cab ride from the airport to either, a couple of minutes/bucks less for T30.

There are no hotels or any commercial facilities walkable from T30, a couple of pricey ones walkable from T66, plenty more within a 5 min. cab ride.

The first night, you could stay at the airport if you want, but then you'd have nothing to do until it's time to get on the ship. Probably cheaper, though. When you get back I would not stay at the airport unless you're fond of such things, although in summer you can certainly save a lot of money by doing so. It's just too far from the visitor attractions to warrant it, IMO.

The airport is about 14 miles from downtown Seattle and the pier from which your ship will depart--it's not more than a 30-minute ride. I think you'd be better off staying downtown--the heart of which is 5th Avenue and Pine. Then you'd have something interesting to do when you wake up the day of your sailing.

We are trying to use Marriott points for our hotel room, does anyone have any opinions about the Marriott properties in Seattle, anything in Downtown

The new waterfront Marriott is one of the hotels close to the cruise terminals - right across the street from Pier 66 actually (NCL and most transients).

There are also Renaissance and Spring Hill properties downtown, plus a Courtyard and a Residence Inn at Lake Union. Any/all of them are quite good.

About a mile north of the center of downtown and the main cruise terminal (Pier 66) - add a couple of additional miles for the Pier 30 terminal. Here's a little map: http://www.cityofseattle.net/tour/tour.gif
