Search (for) Hotel suite using iPhone or laptop app?
We'll be doing an extended car trip from CO to CA with points in between September/October. We only wish to stay at 'real' suites (2 separated rooms so I can go to sleep earlier than my wife).
Anyone know of an iPhone app or internet search service that, given your current location, will scoop up the available residence offerings within x miles and sort by 'suite', rating, price, etc.?
Thanks,
Mark

You'll be better off if you do some research and identify some chain hotels that offer the type of suite you want. Then find out where they are. Off-hand, I'm not aware of a hotel app that will tell you if a hotel has a suite or not.

Booking before we leave will not work since part of the enticement of the trip is not having the pressure of being at a certain location on a certain day.
We're not recently experienced travelers.
Would anyone care to add or suggest a deletion to the following list of potential suite hotels?:
Staybridge
Homestead
Homewood Suites by Hilton
Hyatt Place
Drury Inn and Suites
Residence Inn
Country suites and Inns
Embassy Suites
Doubletree Suites
Thanks,
Mark

Are you looking for a real suite? Most of those listed above are really business type hotels that are one fairly large room with a possible semi-division (no door) between the sleeping and sitting areas. The term "suite" has been extended these days to include a single room that may have a post against the wall or a single slight jog in the wall so that you have a very vague definition of two areas!

I'm not sure how you will find out if it is an actual suite without calling each hotel. As mentioned most of those chains you listed above are NOT actual separate room suites, even though they will call them that.

At Embassy Suites Hotels, every room is a two-room suite with a separate bedroom. And a door between the two you can close. However, one person will get a nice, comfy bed while the other must sleep on a pullout sofa bed in the living area.
If you both want to sleep in a nice bed, you'll need to get a 2 bedroom room. Some Residence Inns will have 2 bedroom suites, but they can be pricey. In fact, at Residence Inns most rooms do not have a door you can close *except* for these two bedroom suites.
