seafood in Sarasota/Longboat Key

Hi,
We'll be in the Sarasota area for my birthday in August and I'm looking for a good seafood restaurant in the Sarasota/Longboat Key area. Looking for fresh seafood, no chain type place. We ate at one, north of St.Armond's circle a few years ago. If memory serves me, it was up from Longboat Key, on the right side of the road, on an inlet. Seemed like a ma and pa type place. Simple, quaint inside, with marvelous food. I can't recall the name????
Thanks in advance.
Frank

It could be Moore's Stone Crabs on Broadway/ Longboat Key; or The Old Salty Dog by the Mote Marine on City Island. Another good place is the Bradenton Beach Pier, known for its fried grouper.

I'm a little confused as to whether it was north of Longboat or actually on Longboat Key.

LN,

>>I'm a little confused as to whether it was north of Longboat or actually on Longboat Key.<<

Sorry I can't be more specific. We were there only for a few days. All I can remember is that we turned left out of the Longboat Key Club and kept going until we saw this place. It was on the right. The steamed clams were so good, I had them for appetizer AND dessert!!!

that would NOT be the Old Salty Dog then. It is a right turn out of the LB Key Club and over the bridge (pass between Longboat and Lido) on the left.

The Bucaneer might be your place or the Anna Maria Oyster Bar. LMF

I know this isn't the place you're referring to, but the food at the Colony Beach and Tennis Club's restaurant is just spectacular!

JDay, you are thinking of the Beach Bistro on Anna Maria. It is wonderful. You can sit on the beach and have a lovely meal & watch the sunset. August might be a little buggy and hot for this but the inside is just fine at this restaurant.

just look at www.beachbistro.com

Hi

It's possible that it was Buccaneer and, if it was, that restaurant has closed. All these other restaurants are great places but I still believe it's Moore's Stone Crabs & Seafood on Broadway, right hand turn off Gulf of Mexico and it's on an inlet of Sarasota Bay. It's been owned by the same family for years.

Well, since you'll be down there why not give each of them a chance - they're not all simple and quaint, but they're all good!!

There is another Beach restaurant on the Bay down behind Avenue of the Flowers shopping center. Do you remember the one I'm talking about LilMsfoodie?? It's back by the marina.
Enjoy your LBK stay...
