Scottsdale ~ cannot get into Camelback Mountain!

My wife and I are attending a conference starting January 14th. We waited too long and cannot get into the hotel where the conference is being held.

Therein lies the question ~ DO YOU KNOW OF A RESORT THAT IS CLOSE TO CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN? I get alittle nervous paying much over $300. Any suggestions?

There's a lower scale resort right across the street from Camelback that, unless there's been a change, is owned by Camelback.

The place is nice enough. It just doesn't offer the range of rooms and amenities that Camelback does. But I think you also get access to Camelback's spa (for which you have to pay separately).

OK, now the problem. I can't remember the name of the place. It seems to me it has "Camelback" in the name, too, but I'm foggy about that since it's been about 4 years since I've been in the area. Maybe another poster can help out.

There's a condo unit really close. They rent time shares, but they will rent rooms if there is space. My parents own one of the time shares so I have personally been to this place. Theirs has 1 bedroom loft with balcony, kitchen & eating area, living area with fireplace, plus 2nd sleeping area off the living room, bathroom with jacuzzi tub. I think there are bigger units too. There is a nice pool & hot tub. It might be worth trying if other places are booked. Here's the link.

Good luck.

In response to j 999 9, you are thinking of the Marriott Mountain Shadows. It's under complete renovation, so that's not an option.

Staying right on Camelback Mountain, the only thing I can think of is the Sanctuary on Camelback, but it's upwards of 430/night.

The Scottsdale Camelback resort sounds like a good option, but it's on the other side of Camelback than where your conference is being held. If you don't mind a 8-10 minute drive to the conference, that might be a good option.

Right you are, krissy. It was the Mountain Shadows. Well, Phil, scratch that idea. Sorry.

Marriott Moiuntain Shadows was a great place to stay and I miss it - I heard it was going to be condos now.
Just up the road ( on Scottsdale Road) from Camelback Inn, there is a Renaissance by Marriott and also a Residence Inn - staying at either of these would let you use the facilities at Camelback as well. Both of these are within 1-2 miles of the Camelback Property.

Why not call the conference hotel itself and ask about nearby accommodations. I would imagine they would be the best source of info overall. Most hotels, particularly those that have conferences, know of alternative nearby hotels. If the front desk cannot help ask for a Manager.
