We're taking our 21 year old daughter to Savannah next week and are looking for a hotel with rooms big enough to accomodate three adults and is in a good location. I know we're not in the room long but prefer a larger room, preferably with a sofa bed so we have some space. Any suggestions?

The Mulberry Inn has suites where there is one bed in a bedroom and a pullout sofa in another sort of adjoining area... might be perfect for you.

Mulberry Inn is booked. I am holding a room at Eliza Thompson with two queens (beds that is......) but am still looking. Would like some elbow room in a good location to everything. We're doing a road trip for a week and we all want to like each other when we get home.

I understand-we've done some traveling with our 23 and nineteen year old and it's nice to have space. I'm not sure if there is a Comfort Inn and Suites in the area-but I've stayed in those and they are convenient for your situationl Good Luck with it all...

The Eliza Thompson is very nice. I think you will like it a lot.

The hotel issue with Savannah for next week is partly because the city has an enormous drunken St. Patrick's Day celebration (on 3/17). Beware as you make your travel plans.

I would highly recommend the Westin just across the water fromm Savannah with a free ferry shuttle over to town. Rooms are large and have the "heavenly Beds" There is also a great spa on site and beautiful pool - although probably too early in the season.

I agree. The 17th will not be the best day to be in Savannah. They do have a wonderful parade (2nd largest in the USA) but it can get a bit rowdy around River Street. If your stay includes the 17th, you might want to spend that day someplace else: Hilton Head, Tybee...

Thanks for the help. We arent' coming until the weekend so I'll spend the 17th at home having my own party. I'll check out the Westin. The ferry isn't ever a problem?

Forget the Westin. It's sold out. Eliza Thompsom it is then unless I can find something else.

Don't stay at the Hyatt. called the hotel directly about the renovation that is going on at the hotel. Spoke with the manager who said we'd be better off NOT to stay there until end of May when the renovation is complete.

Interesting about the Hyatt-so you were actual told not not stay there during the renovations. I called a few days ago and couldn't get a very direct response. Would you recommend the Hampton-can you tell me more about it -also the Mulberry-thanks.

We've stayed at both the Hampton Inn and at the Hyatt. While we would prefer to stay at the Hyatt(it's a little more glamorous)the Hampton also has a great location and the rooms are fine.

I stayed at the Savannah historic district Hampton Inn at Thanksgiving 2003. It was a nice hotel, very conveniently located. We walked everywhere, except for a trip to Bonaventure Cemetery. They had a fire in the fireplace lobby and popcorn and snacks in the afternoon. Nice breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend the hotel and will stay there again next time in Savannah. There were 3 adults in our room (me plus parents) and we had no space issues.

LOL Sobehappy. I've been biting my tongue. I got a severe lashing the last time I said I preferred the Hampton Inn over the Hyatt. Strange how OPINIONS on an opinion forum can cause such a ruckus when your opinion doesn't match the self-designated "Expert".
