San Francisco's Embarcadero area hotels
As if there has not been enough threads on SF hotels... I know.. I know...
I wanted to stay at the Hyatt on my next SF visit - as I liked the location when I was there last August. It is not showing great rates for the times that I can come.
What are some other hotels in that area that you might recommend?
Thanks so much in advance!

le meridian is nearby and has good rates sometimes. others relatively nearby that have good rates as well are The Palace and Westin at Market Street (it would be about a 10 minute walk to the Ferry Building from these hotels). Vitale is my favorite but it may be pricier than the Hyatt.

Vova thank you! I was just reading your response on another thread I found through a search. The Vitale is very nice - where is it in respect to the Hyatt? I liked the Hyatt's location to the transportation as well as being so close to the Ferry building and I am hoping to be able to catch a Giants game (finally!)

It is about 2 blocks south along Embarcadero (towards the Giants stadium). It has more of a boutique/trendy feel to it whereas the Hyatt is more of a business hotel given its size and location closer to the financial district. Le Meridian is the old Park Hyatt and I also like that location if you don't want to splurge for the Hyatt or Vitale. It has a business hotel feel but I have stayed there many times and like it - it also gets you a little closer to Union Square (it's about 3 or 4 blocks west of the Hyatt).

I went ahead and booked the Hyatt Embarcadero - I loved the look of the Vitale - but I am a passport member and get lured into earning points when I am going to spend $$$ and yes, you were correct- the Vitale was about 100.00 more a night.

MomDD - keep checking rates. They seem to change day to day. I've changed reservations many times at the Hyatt and Le Meridien as they drop or they add an incentive like breakfast, bar credit, etc. I told dh this could be a full time job - lol - but as the rates drop, I've got parking, etc. covered with the savings!

we stayed at that Hyatt last September and really liked it. We had an awesome view of the Ferry building, the bay, and the Bay Bridge.
Another hotel in that area is the Harbor Court. Its another Kimpton property, though less pricey than the Vitale. I cannot give it a first hand recommendation though.
You will be just a short 2 blocks from Boulevard restaurant. I highly recommend it for a wonderful meal.

No, no Le Meridien,It is Westin, St. Regis, Sheraton, W...I will check on American Express website as I would be happy with 132.00 WITH a 75.00 food/bev - that is a good rate.
I like Kimpton properties - and thank you for the rest. recommendation!

humm.. I need to go back and check as I am not happy with my hotel rate the more I stew about it. I checked American Express and the dates I am planning on coming there must be something going on that week - conferences or something - because the hotels are jacked up.

as far as the location of The Palace, it depends on what you'll be doing during the days and how you'll be getting around. It is a 12-15 minute walk to the Ferry Building, a 10 minute walk to Union Square and about 15 minutes to North Beach. BART station is on the corner and you can walk to the Giants game in less time than if you are at the Hyatt Regency - it's just not a very pretty walk up 2nd street (but saves time). What you don't get is the pretty views (maybe you do from the higher floors).
