San Francisco rental go-carts?
Hi
I just heard from my honeymooning kids in San Francisco. It was a short call, but they told me that they rented some sort of go-cart/golf cart thing for two, that came with a map of a two hour driving tour. They loved it, and said they had a ball. Anyone know what this is? I can't get a picture in my mind, and I haven't heard of this before.

I've seen tourists driving around town with them. It seems that there is also a recorded tour that tells you about where you are (talks a bit about the neighborhood, etc.). I don't know the name of the company, but I wouldn't be surprised if more than one operation has these cars. They are two person and look like go carts. They are bit funny looking but pretty popular. I actually get a bit scared for the tourists driving them b/c the vehicles are so small compared to a normal car and I wonder if there have been any accidents.

Please be careful! These guys sometimes get in the way of local drivers and take their lives in their hands.

Catbert--It seems that some renters don't stick to the recorded tour and go off exploring on their own in these things. I have seen these carts downtown on Market St., on Montgomery, trying to go up the hill on Pine; because I live near GGP, they appear in my neighborhood, trying to negotiate the hills. I have even heard that some go across the GGBridge. And yes, then they are annoying. Some people seem to forget that they are in a working city. I have not heard on any accidents.

Thanks; I think my honeymooners stuck to the itinerary, because they told me all the things they saw by following the mapped tour. Also, my new SIL is a police officer, and quite a stickler for following rules and traffic laws.
It sounds like fun, but I think if I'm ever lucky enough to be back in SF, Ill keep to a car or public transportation.
The honeymooners are still in their twenties, and like this sort of fun stuff.

Hi Debbie, hope your honeymooners are having a wonderful time in SF! I too was a bit worried so glad to see that your new SIL is a police officer. Now hopefully he is more careful then a few in my family, LOL. SF is a beautiful city for a honeymoon. Take care!

I just went to the site to check them out and the prices cracked me up. The regular prices were listed and crossed out and then the internet prices were listed - the regular and internet prices are the same
