San Diego Zoo Hotels with small dog.

I am wading thru AAA book and other travel info but having a difficult time..Does anyone know of a hotel near the zoo that would take a small dog? The info bureau is closed for the holidays..Fodor's never is! LOL

There are a bunch of hotels on Hotel Circle, which runs parallel to I5 just a mile or 2 from the zoo. I believe suite hotels like Residence Inn or Extended Stay America allow pets at their hotels nationwide, but be sure to check with them directly.

I forgot to add about the hotels in that area. The area is perfectly fine if you have a car and plan to be out and about all day. It's convenient to the highway which will get you on the road in all directions N/S/E/W quite easily, but it's not a pedestrian area. Nor is it a particularly scenic area - with I5 in front of you and a mall across the highway.

I love the view from one of the highrise hotels downtown, but they tend to be business hotels - less likely to accept pets.

I don't know much about which hotels do and don't allow dogs here, but when we had to evacuate because of the fires, we were able to take our little Maltese to the King's Inn in Hotel Circle. It was very clean, parking is free and they have a great breakfast cafe. I wouldn't recommend the Mexican restaurant on site.

The freeway is I-8, not I-15.

Hi - I don't think this is especially close to the zoo, but the Del Mar Doubletree takes dogs, and all Motel 6's do. Many if not most LaQuintas do as well.
