San Diego suggestions?

Our family is thinking of visiting SD sometime this spring for approx. 5 days. We plan to see Sea World, the zoo, and spend a couple of days at the beach. Where should we stay? We are traveling with a 4 yo and a 1 yo. Family-friendly restaurant suggestions are also appreciated. Thanks!

Hi aLuis:
I was there last year (1st week of June) and we stayed at Paradise Point Resort, it says 3 1/2 stars but I Loved it. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, we arrived at the hotel at around 10:30 a.m. from a red eye from Hawaii and they were nice enough to allow us to check in at that time, it was not too far from the zoo either and got discount coupon from concierge there too. we got the hotel through priceline at $90 something, so if you can do try to priceline (first check how much it goes for at your dates and then take about 40%) and bid. Hope this helps please let me know if I can help.

I like paradise point resort..across from Sea World.
Check Expedia.com..some great hotel deals going on..
Crown Plaza is nice and around $100+ in Mission Valley.
Kids would love Legoland in Carlsbad..Birch Aquarium in LJ.
Lots of great family restaurants..
book your hotel and then will get you covered on the food.
I would book soon..spring is busy here.

Aren't kitchens included in the rooms at Paradise Point?

If you want to stock up on food for the kitchen. You can go into Pacific Beach and find a Vons, Trader Joes or Henrys markets.

If you go into Ocean Beach there is a very good organic market called OB People's. They also have an excellent take out.
Inside PP, you seem to be a the mercy of their restuarants. I've never eaten there, so can't comment. But lots of family friendly places around the area. Pizza, Thai, Italian...
You'll have a car, right?

When my kids were young they loved the Corvett Diner in Hillcrest (on 5th Ave near Washington St).

Zoo is excellent, but we enjoyed the zoo's Wild Animal Park even more.

Hi, you will love San Diego! We like the oceanfront Hotel Del Coronado, it is very conducive to families. If you like Mexican food, you can walk over to Miguel's Cocina in the heart of the El Cordova Hotel. Have fun! ***kim***

Try the Catamaran directly on Mission Bay; path around bay great for strollers and tikes, bikes. Cross one street over to Pacific; just know that even though they have a great winter, spring does not usually provide 'beach' weather so pack sweats, windbreakers and jeans along with a pair or shorts and swimsuit and hope for the best! You can walk along Oceanfront Walk down to that name-escapes-me small amusement park and have breakfast at Kono's in Pacific Beach-- good and fast.
