Fort Worth is not that close -- about 4 to 5 hours drive. If you do go, you might consider driving north on Highway 281 rather than Interstate 35, which is fraught with frequent construction delays and Austin rush hour traffic. Fort Worth would be a great side trip for a couple of days. It features the world class Kimbell Museum, the Western stockyards, and a vibrant downtown with great restaurants, bars, etc.

Hi Melmg, Dallas / Forth Worth is a huge metroplex with Dallas to the east and Fort Worth to the west--we've driven to Dallas and it's a good 4.5-5 hours from our side of town (north west)IF there are no traffic delays--in listening to friends who have family there I believe Forth Worth is an additional 30 minutes away. I-35 seems to have a black cloud over it and frequently there are major accidents that shut it down. Have heard that 281 is a good alternative but I believe it takes longer using this route as it is not a major freeway. Alternatively, you can fly there in 45-50 minutes and then return to Washington from there. I hope this helps you.

Washington State....ah....have only been to Seattle (twice) and absolutely love it there! What a beautiful part of the country you live in.

Hope you enjoy a nice day! AMC

Re: Woodfield Suites, I mapquest the location and personally, I wouldn't stay there. IMO, you'll be happier closer to the river, attractions, etc. WS is too far away--coming from Washington State, you do not want to walk 5 blocks in the south Texas heat to get somewhere!

OK, woodfield is marked off.
Next time you come to Washington, take a trip up north through Deception Pass and then take a ferry to the San Juan Islands. You'll love it.

Hi Melmg, to let you know, I read in the business section of today's local newspaper that the Hyatt downtown began room renovations yesterday that are expected to last through September. FYI only.

OK, have to ask this one. Met with our recruiter today and was telling him how we've narrowed down our search for places to stay. He asked which we were considering and we told him. He said we should consider the Amerisuites Riverwalk. He said he tells everyone to stay there cause it's so nice and great location. He went on about how he had stayed with some of the other places but this was great. So....is it great? Is the location good (like he says) or is he blowing smoke up the .......

Thanks
