It was not an apartment house; it was a residential hotel. Many of the rooms had small kitchens. I visited a friend while he was staying there a few years ago. The location is great, and you have an excellent deal--especially if you can get a quiet room on the back of the building.
The location is near Carnegie Hall and Tiffany's and a short walk to the Broadway theater district and Central Park.

We stayed back in November and really loved the location. The hotel isn't fancy, but the price is definitely right to be right on the park and just a walk away from all of the shows. We also liked that it was huge so there was plenty of room to spread out.

Hi Marcia, we are staying at the Salisbury in July, friends of ours stayed there a few years ago, and said, it definitely is not a fancy hotel, but it is clean, the rooms were large and they were at the back of the hotel, so it was very quiet. As long as it's clean, is good for me. We stayed at the Marriott Marquis the last two years and have been spoiled by that, it is quite posh...but due to their high rates this year, we can't do it again, from other views on the Salisbury, it sounds like it will be okay, just keep in mind it's not a fancypants hotel. If you are there before July, please post your thoughts on the hotel - in this site, and let me know how it was. Hope it's a good experience. Thanks,
Sue
