I got Park Central in May, 2004 for 6 nights at $110 per night through Priceline. It has a great location - accross from Carnegie Hall and half block from Carnegie Deli. You can walk about 3 blocks north to southern edge of Central Park.

Walk to theatre district depends on physical ability or willingness to do it I guess. Theatres in 48 - 53 streets are easy walk.

Hotel gets mixed reviews on Fodor's but my stay was excellent. You may want to check Trip Advisor to check other reviews.

We stayed at the Park Central in February. Got it for $150 on Priceline. It was fine at that price. It is in a great location but is a bit run down.

When in NYC last November with friends we stayed at the Salisbury on W. 57th, also across from Carnegie Hall. One of the women with us had stayed at the Park Central the year before and preferred the Salisbury. For $3.00 we got a great breakfast in the hotel which we took advantage of daily. When we arrived, I asked if there were any suites available and we were put in a suite for no increased price. We may have been really lucky to get such a deal - it was $179 a night. You may want to check it out. The Salisbury is an apartment building that was converted to a hotel so the rooms are larger than in some other places. Good luck!

I stayed there in March for a conference. The rooms were run down. The only plus to the hotel is the location. I recommend you visit Trip Advisor and read about other hotels that are in the same price range that may have better reviews.

Just to repeat what others have been saying... other than the really good location, this hotel sucks. At $314, you should be able to find something much better, unless you're planning on going during marathon week.
