We are planning a trip to the Midwest in May thru June. Does anyone know of a nice RV Park near Chicago. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Not sure I would want to stay in an RV park in the Chicago area. Are you staying in the Chicago area or passing through?

If you are going further west, there are some at Wisconsin Dells which would be on I-90 and I-94 going through Wisconsin. There are several listed under special lodging on tripadvisor.

If you are going on I-80 there should be some campgrounds along the Mississippi River.

I-80 is often times very slow going through Chicago - depends upon time of day and how much construction is going on. You may want to stay in Indiana before going through Chicago.

RV parks are definetly outside of downtown by about 40 miles. THere's one in Volo, Algonquin, Union, Marengo. From there you can take the train into the city. Otherwise maybe calling a local RV dealer and they could give you some options. Most of our friends that drive RV's spend the time in the driveways of friends here in the closer suburbs.

I had the same question a year or so ago and finally decided on staying (in our Roadtrek van camper) at Illinois Beach State Park near Zion. We found it a nice place to be in early summer and it was reasonably convenient for getting the train to downtown Chicago. As I recall, it was a little over an hour trip but, as tourists, we enjoyed seeing the northern suburbs along the way. Most were very attractive towns in their own right.

Rereading the question, I see that apparently you're interested in a place for a passing-through stop, so I guess my reply is of no use to you. Maybe someone else might find it helpful, though.

You may want to investigate the Indiana Dunes to the south..

I believe there is a place in Tinley Park (SW burbs) called Windy City Beach. You may want to google them to see if they are still in existence.
