We stayed there two years ago and it was ok, but nothing great. There were ants on our balcony and they started to come into the room. The bathroom was terrible. It was a inexpensive place to stay so that is why we took it. If you arent in your hotel room very long each day-- it will be ok.

I can get an ocean view for $90. a night through a connection at the RLR. Anyone else know this place and have an opinion. Is it close to everything and generally how is it located for beach access, etc.

The Royal Lahaina is a nice (but not great) property. It is beach front on North Kaanapali Beach (great beach), and it is about a 10-15 minute walk to Whaler's Village (restaurants, bars, shopping, etc). $90 per night sounds like a great rate, but make sure you are in the main Royal Lahaina hotel and not the Royal Hale which is not naerly as good. Go to this website for an aerial photo of Kaanapali Beach that shows The Royal Lahaina in relation to Whaler's Village and other hotels and condos. From the Hyatt to the Sheraton is about 1.5 miles.

The beach is the main attraction here. The resort could use some renovations. Book a cottage room, these are more spacious and in my opinion, nicer than being in the main hotel. The staff is helpful and friendly.
