Has anyone stayed at the Aston Mahana or Aston Kaanapali Shores?

I stayed at Kaanapali Shores three years ago. The resort itself is pretty nice, but you're a couple of miles from Kaanapali Beach and all the nice shops there. The beach at the Shores was horrible and no one went in the water there.

Stayed at Kaanapali Shores several years ago. Very nice, good for the value. Be sure you do a lot of checking around as rates fluctuate from website to website. Was able to get a great rate of $159/nt through Aston Hotel direct in Hawaii - don't know if that's still possible though. The grounds and beach sands are nice to relax. You should have a good time, we enjoyed it thoroughly = )

We were just at Aston Kaanapali Shores 3 weeks ago. We liked it a lot. The premises were beautiful. The staff was courteous. There were 2 pools (it was just regular size pools, nothing special, however we did sneak into the Hyatt's pool, it was awesome with caves and waterfalls). However, if you do decide to stay there, make sure you get yourself an upgraded room, such as an ocean view room. Those rooms along with the condos there are very nice. We unfortunately got stuck with a standard room because of the busy holiday weekend. We were able to upgrade. Our room was clean but small and it was a far walk from the parking lot. By the way, the place is huge. No one really goes to the beach there anyway. The drive to Front Street and Lahaina was only a couple of minutes. I would recommend it.

No one really goes to the beach at Aston Kaanapali Shores because the beach is alsmost non-existent. Why go to Maui and NOT be on a beautiful beach ? If a great beach is waht you want avoid the Kaanapali Shores.

We just came back from a week at the Aston Mahana in Maui. We had heard that some of the rooms may not be in great shape, but our room was very nice. We stayed on the second floor and the view was great. Woke to the sound of crashing surf every morning. Never saw a bug in the room, and did not hear any noise from the rooms near us. We did get a phone call one morning saying that security would like for us not to hang out towels on the balcony. We did not mind, it makes the condos look neater w/o all the towels on the back.
