Hi Stacie, we stayed at The Shores this year. We loved it. We have always stayed in Wailea, but decided to try out Kaanapali .
We had a 2 bedroom condo. I cannot remember the room area, but we looked out at the grassy area and the ocean behind. It was not an ocean-view room, but we liked it ALOT. The restaurant which is right at the beach has excellent breakfasts, and delicious dinners - and VERY reasonable. We will go back again in 2003. I hope this helps.

Ken--Stayed at the Aston Kaanapali Shores a couple of years ago and as I remember it there was no real beach to speak of at the hotel, just an area where the water could be accessed through the rocky shoreline. If you walk down a short way, however, you get to the part of Kaanapali where the big resorts are and you will find the kind of beach that you dream about.
