Great location. 45th St. and Madison Ave. Walking distance to everything in midtown. Rockefeller Center, NBC Studios, St. Patricks, Saks 5th Ave., FAO Schwarz, Tiffany, Cartier.
The uptown Madison Ave. buses (M1, M2, M3, M4) stop right on the side of the hotel entrance. Go uptown to the art galleries in the 70's and the art museums in the 70s and 80s.
GET YOURSELF A METROCARD. The best way to get quicky on and off the buses. The buses only take coins and the card....NO DOLLARS.
Get a subway and a bus map. On the internet......under NYCMTA.
The hotel was totally renovated a few years ago. Good facilities. Clean.
Location is very busy during the day....businesses and a few blocks from Grand Central Station. A great historic place to visit. Stores and foodmart + a few great restaurants including the Oyster Bar and Michael Jordan's Steak House. At night the neighborhood is quiet and safe. But keep your eyes open at all times and do not flash the jewelry and the cash.
Common sense.

stayed there in 2001 and it was fine. room size was pretty good for NYC, our room actually had 2 double beds, clean, staff was very helpful. Coffee bar in lobby, sushi place on ground floor of building. location was excellent. kiddie corner to Grand Central Station. Walking distance to tons of things. Magnificent lobby. would easily stay there again
