My daughter may attend a school-related event in NYC next year; the kids will be housed in the Roosevelt Hotel. Can anyone tell me about this place, especially its safety and quality? The price ($132 per night for 1-4 people) seems a little low for NYC, but maybe there is a great group rate.

It's a good hotel, completely refurbished 3 or 4 years ago. My question is why would the school pick that one? It's location at 45th & Madison Avenue is not near anything. It's not a dangerous area, but the area is a business area that quiets down after 7pm.

Great location....45th Street and Madison Ave. Walking distance to Rockefeller Center, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central Station. Uptown bus right on the corner. Hotel is almost finished being totally renovated. Old world charm. Good choice. Perfect for school groups. Lots of moderately priced eatting places in the basically sky-scraper working neighborhood. Quiet but safe at night and weekends.

I think the location is terrific and plan to stay there if we can ever snare reasonable rates for our dates.
