Romantic Accomodations Yosemite Area?
Dreaming about staying @ the chateau in Oakhurst, but it's outside our budget at $500/night. Can you recommend other romantic locations for our 25th anniversary in the Yosemite area for around $300/night?
Thank you!!
Thank you!!

When is your anniversary? If it's far enough in advance to get a reservation, I go for the Awahnee, if only for the location and the dining. I've not stayed there, just eaten there and wandered the grounds. The rooms are supposed to be somewhat small, but elegant. They also have cabins but I don't know what they go for.

Lookn,
I'm sure you've found the National Park's web site, but just it case you haven't, it's

You can check for room availability. It appears there are rooms at the Ahwahnee available during the dates you want. Good luck and have a great time. As for planning your sight seeing, keep in mind that the water flow over Yosemite Falls is usually greatly reduced in September (sometimes to a trickle I'm told), but that other falls, such as Vernal Falls (a steep hike on the John Muir and Mist Trail) may still be wonderful. We were there in mid-late August and Yosemite was diminished, but even from the great distance of Glacier Point, Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls were spectacular. We did not have time to do this 3 mile roundtrip, 1050 foot elevation gain hike and I regretted it. I'd also try to arrange a night time drive of some kind. Living in a large, light polluted city on the plains, it was a breathtaking experience to be in the clear, thin air of the mountains at night. The stars were like a special effects extravaganza.

My husband and I, and then newborn daughter (6 weeks old) stayed at the Tenaya Lodge to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary last April and loved it!!! We chatted up the front desk clerk upon our check-in, and were upgraded from the standard room we had booked, to the "Honeymoon Suite" free of charge! Wow!!! Each and every staff member we encountered at the property was not only great, but exceptional! Their customer service was extremely impressive! Happy Anniversary - Congratulations on your 25th!!!

We have stayed many, many times at the Pines Resort (Ducey's is the name of the restaurant there) we like the lakefront Spa Suites, many nice amenities including jacuzzi tub for 2, fireplaces in the rooms, breatfast delivered to your room each morning and direct access to the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, we stayed there this past Valentine's Day, sadly the quality of the restaurant was not up to par, they are in transition with new owners and desperately need to get a great chef back in there! ***kim***
