nytraveler-
I think I see your point, but I still have to disagree that Vegas is unromantic. My DH and I always enjoy a very romantic dinner at the Bellagio every year for our anniversary. I also find The Venetian to be romantic because I can walk in there and remember what the real Venice is like.
Sure, Vegas many times isn't reality, but it's a pretty good replica when the real thing(s) are thousands of miles away. Also, I stick by my statement that walking down the strip would never be considered romantic in my book, even without the "postcards" being pushed in your face. I don't find car exhaust romantic...
Here's one example that might fit with your idea of romance in Vegas- Lake Las Vegas. What a beautiful spot, especially when it's just a bit nippy out and they have the big fireplaces going outside. Sigh.

N9NE Steakhouse is very nice and it is at The Palms.
nytraveller obviously had a bad experience in Vegas. I'm sorry that whatever happened happened.
Romance, like beauty, is very much in the eye of the beholder. It can be the thought, the action, the moment ...
Every time my girlfriend and I have been to Vegas, I have pre-arranged for flowers to be delivered to the room upon our arrival. I think that is romantic. She thinks it is romantic, too. For us, it is part of our Vegas experience. Since we made Vegas a regular destination, I have been able to get nicer rooms, too. Carrying your lover across the threshold into a Penthouse Suite is hard to beat in my book.
Take Care,
Mark

I just got back from an overnighter in Vegas and visited Wynn while I was there. This was my first trip to Vegas where I didn't come home smelling like a chimney! What did Steve do to his hotel to get rid of that awful stale cigarette smoke smell? Or is it because the hotel is just "new" still? Whatever it is, I will be going back to Wynn, that's for sure. Of course, I did win more than a few hundred bucks there in 24 hours, so that has something to do with it. LOL.
Anyway - some women I played blackjack with highly recommended the restaurant there for dinner... I wish I remembered the name of it... I assume it was the main restaurant.

It's true that Vegas is not one of my favorite places - though not due to any "bad experiences". Have been 3 times - all busines trips - and the place is simply not to my taste. IMHO it has no redeeming characteristics.
Unless I had to go on business there is no way you could ever get me there - it's worse even than Orlando. Just not my glass of Campari.
Obviously some people do find it romantic - I guess we're all entitled to our opinions.

bondgirl,
I like *Bling* with my Bubbley!
I would actually feel like one of the
Olsen twins (not the thin one!) if I asked for "champagne with sparkles!"
But, omigod, it sounds really awesome!
Exciting! But not Romantic, nytraveler....see, I know the difference!

Just glanced at this old thread for fun and grinned at jbee's comment:
<What a beautiful spot, especially when it's just a bit nippy out>
i know...i know...out of context!
....but still grinning....
