I am going to Vegas with my boyfriend in March. I would love to have some tips on romantic things to do in Vegas. Romantic resturants, places to see, shows, ect....

As for restaurant: Picasso at Bellagio , especially with a great view of the fountains

Shows: maybe Mama Mia would qualify as romantic as it's a musical about a wedding but it's not Phnatom of the Opera romantic

There's the Hugh Hefner School and the Elvis School - Las Vegas combine's the two. (this is what my wife thinks) - I really like Vegas - Viva Las Vegas!

I think the Bellagio is a beautiful hotel (get a room facing the fountains) and one of the most romantic restaurants I've ever eaten in in Vegas is Bellagio's Jasmine. The food is Asian, and to tell you the truth, I don't remember the food being bad, but I don't remember what I ate either-----but the restaurant faces the fountains and it sits over the fake Italian lake. The restaurant itself is very very pretty-----lots of pinks, white, gold, very romantic. Zagat's restaurant guide gave it a high rating for romantic atmosphere. The little tiny bar inside Jasmine is kind of cute and romantic too. Hubby and I were there in March once, and it was 80 degrees for 2 days, and the following 2 days it was 40 degrees. But while it was 80, we hung by the pool which is also very beautiful. The bar Fontana (also in the Bellagio)has an outdoor balcony which also overlooks the fake lake (smiles again), but I felt like I was in Tuscany. (never been to Tuscany, and someone on this board will probably make fun of me for that comment-----but we thought it was pretty romantic anyway.) We don't gamble, we don't do the strip clubs, but I think you can still have a romantic time in Vegas by getting a beautiful room, find the beautiful restaurants, and fun bars. Have a great time.

Me again-----forgot this one. On the north end of the strip is a vintage restaurant called the Peppermill. It's been around since the Elvis and Rat-Pack days,and supposedly they hung out there once in awhile. Several movies have been filmed there-----very 60's, the restaurant is kind of a Vegas-y "Denny's", but the back bar is pretty cool----lots of sunken little private booths with little fireplaces and fountains----little white lites on the silk trees---quite a 60's Vegas experience, but kind of romantic too! It's just south of the Riviera on the strip (aways from everything else, but worth a little long walk or taxi ride down the strip).

My husband and I got engaged in Vegas (he totally suprised me since we were travelling to St. John, VI the next week and I thought it would happen then!)
The VooDoo lounge on top of the Rio has an unbelievable view of the area, as does the Ghost Bar on top of the new Palms (a more happening scene!) It may be chilly (windy!), so you may need to cuddle...aaaahhh!

The most romantic view, from a chaise together, in a sweet suite at Bally's....full length windows, wrapped in robes, fresh from the jacuzzi...looking towards the Eiffel tower at the Bellagio fountains...the steam covers the windows, making smiley faces on the windows and listening to "Pink Panther" theme as the fountains begin to dance...

IMHO Las Vegas is one of the least romantic places on the face of the earth - unless you find losing money, crass bad taste and commercial sex romantic.

nytraveler I totally agree. I guess you could do do something romantic like go to a topless bar, walk down the strip and get handed photos of naked women or maybe get so drunk you forget where you are. Sorry I am very negative on Vegas lived there 25 years and still cannot see the facsination with it all.

But I do agree Picasso's in the Belagio is wonderful. Stay here to, it is the classiest place on the strip.

I don't get why Vegas gets such an unromantic reputation. Walking down a major tourist street in any city would seem unromantic to me and commercial sex is everywhere, not just Vegas.

I'm with beachkomer- it is what you make it. I have no problem finding romance in Vegas...

I don;t know - for me romantic is quiet, serene and most of all private. It doesn;t involve casinos, tons of hideous garish neon lights, ridiculous wonders of the world, fake cities and obtrusive comercial sex.

(I'll take a beautiful BB in the Berkshires or the Hamptons, Capri in the evening, a walk in Cordoba after dinner, or the fireplace in my own apartment in a snowfall over Las Vegas any day.)

(Of course there is commercial sex everywhere if you look for it - but I have never had it thrust at me as it was in Las Vegas - not even whenTimes Square was at it's worst - before it was cleaned up.)

...having a glass of wine together as the fountains are dancing, a nice dinner at Bellagio, the glamour, dressing up...late night cab ride back to a suite and jacuzzi...hey,
