Ritz Carlton vs Windsor Crt. ???

I need help deciding where to stay for anniversary. Ritz or Windsor Court. Are the club level rooms at the Ritz worth it? Are there any views there? Is the new casino a nuisance for the Windsor Court? Help.

I stayed at the Windsor Court one time and wasn't particularly pleased with it. It's a fabulous hotel and I'd probably love it in another town, but it in no way reflects the wonderful personality indicative of New Orleans. I've seen one rave review of the Ritz very recently - perhaps on this board - but most reviews of it have been mediocre. Is there some reason why you're limiting your stay to one of these two places? In answer to your question about the casino, it really has no impact on the Windsor Court.

"...Is there some reason why you're limiting your stay to one of these two places?".

....ummmm, maybe because they're the best two places in town and it's her anniversary?

Sherlock, they are just two of the five or six best places in town so it's a perfectly valid question. I'd add Soniat House, Maison de Ville, Omni Royal Orleans and the Hotel Monaco to the list, for starters. The Ritz Carlton and the Windsor Court get the most publicity but I'd personally stay at one of the four I mentioned.

I agree with John. New Orleans was a unique destination decades before the presence of the Windsor Court
and the Ritz. They may be YOUR favorites, Sherlock, but certainly not mine.

We were at the Windsor Court for 9 days in September and the service was superb and our suite beyond what I expected. I find this hotel very romantic and quiet and we loved being in the New Orleans atmosphere but loved even more getting to the quiet and serene feeling here. The casino posed no problems at all. The suites are definitely worth the extra money.

The Ritz Carlton in New Orleans is not up to the standards of others in the chain. I was there for New Years and they constantly bragged about winning five stars last year. They must have paid because their service was iffy and the rooms tiny.

Windsor Court is on most top hotel lists in the country, and I agree. No, you do not get the flavor of the town there, but you only have to walk outside to get that. If you want the best place, that's where I would go again.

We've stayed twice at the Omni Royal Orleans. Nice room, good service and a real feel for being in the heart of New Orleans. Windsor Court makes me think of England!

nnnnnnnnnn, Go take a pill. People are only expressing what makes a hotel important to them. Lighten up or you'll go up in smoke.

We want a really fine dining experience. We're trying to decide between the Red Lobster and Commander's Palace. Which might be better?

Such a comparison is similar to comparing the Omni or Soniat to Windsor Court.

Correct XXX.
Red Lobster=Omni (mediocre, whatever)
Commander's=Windsor Court (worth a special trip).

The Windsor Court is not that great, sorry to say. I'd pick the Omni French Quarter.
