Restaurants in Williamsburg
Our family will be traveling to Williamsburg in November. I'm looking for a good restaurant, that might have a private room for 10, to celebrate my sister-in-law's 25th wedding anniversary. I e-mailed The Trellis restaurant for information, but wanted more places to compare this restaurant to. Any suggestions??

My friends celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary at the Williamsburg Inn, and it was absolutely wonderful. Also very expensive, but I thought that it was worth it for what was a special occasion. I think that they do have private rooms for larger parties.

Just thought that I would follow-up to my own message as I was just in Williamsburg this weekend. My mom took us out to dinner at the Trellis to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was an ENORMOUS disappointment - bland and expensive. Once upon a time it was a fantastic restaurant but no longer. The desserts are still great (although they were sold out of Death by Chocolate and we had a 7:30 reservation). The atmosphere is nice (beautiful quilts hanging on the walls) but the service was slow - we were not served our main course until 9:00.
Next time we will try the Williamsburg Inn or Fords Colony.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience at the Trellis. It has never been one of my favorites. I've heard a lot of complaints about slow service there lately. Next time try lunch. It is usually nicer and they have the same desserts. The new news is that the head chef at Ford's Colony is leaving to start his own place. We're watching for the new place and waiting to see how his absence affects the normally wonderful FC Dining Room.
