Restaurants in Savannah

Hi - I am going to Savannah to visit my husband's parents for a week and we have one night alone at the Marriott on the river - anyone stay there?. We are looking for some nightlife suggestions and good restaurants. Since it is only one night, maybe drinks and appetizers at many places is our best bet. Any thoughts would be great! Thank you in advance.

We just returned from Savannah and had an Excellent meal at The Old Pink House (be sure to make a reservation). We also ate at the 17Hundred90 House - my meal was very good, but my husband ordered the special veal chop and the waitress brought him the veal medallions (which were stringy) - the waitress was new. She did comp him his $12 glass of wine though. I would recommend The Old Pink House. Hope you have a great time in Savannah!

I also vote for the Old Pink House. Very excellent. For nightlife try Jazz'd Tapas Bar, 52 Barnard St in the historic district.

Pink House, Garibaldi's and Bistro Savannah are owned by the same folks and are all very good. My first choice is the PH - just 'cause it's my favorite. I am able to get into Garibaldi's when I can't get into the PH and customers I have entertained there really like it. Bistro Savannah is virtually next door and although I have not dined there, the reviews are good.

Can't miss with any of those 3 - IMHO.

I think the Marriot has a restaurant of it's own. I think it's a TGIF. I believe that there is entertainment of some sort. All of the others mentioned are several blocks away, so you would have a good walk if you didn't want to use your car. You might just want to go to the City Market area and just roam around the various bars, cafes, etc.

TGIF has closed in the Marriott and nothing has replaced it. I was there last week for a conference and that area of the hotel looks like a ghost town. The upstairs restaurant was serving an asian buffet, so we walked to the Mulberry for a more traditional southern buffet lunch.

Paula Dean's Lady and Sons. Excellent buffet of lowcountry cooking. You definitely need reservations.

The Pink House is great, but for more casual try the Six Pence Pub.

We had dinner in Garibaldis adn really enjoyed the whole experience. We sat upstairs in the ballroom, the food was very good as was the service.
But I have to say, The Olde Pink House is my favorite and I wish we could go back there..the place, the food, the service, even the ghosts..

I will second The Lady and Son's but I believe the buffet is only on Sundays. I have lived in the South all my life and this was some of the best southern food I have ever had. Even the buffet, which are usually marginal at best, was excellent and food was very fresh. Just don't go expecting to stay on your diet.

I was just at Lady & Sons and they have a buffet at both lunch & dinner along with menu service (not just Sundays).I am not a gourmet eater but my recent buffet lunch was my most enjoyable in many years.
