Reporting Abuse
If you are tired of logging into the US Forum and seeing about 20 out 0f 25 posts that are spam please contact the editors and report the abuse right away.
It has become a real problem and I find it difficult to move through the posts with so much advertising for useless stuff.

I understand and yesterday I DID that. I am sorry but I am no longer going to be DOING the editorial reporting. Yes, I read all of that exchange from Mr. Excitement and how they need help and blah, blah, blah. I guess they have FINALLY figured out that THEY need to "do something."
If I sound like an a**hole then fine. Relying on a bunch of posters who may, or may not, be around to police the site is not the way to run things IMO.

I don't really understand the need for this thread.
You think people don't already click the triangles? They do, in droves. The junk gets deleted - right?
And triangling in the middle of the night won't get immediate action - the staff will get to it they start work in the AM.

I don't think editors are doing this job. People who do this kind of work are called community managers, forum managers, or something like that.
I see them in the morning and sometimes click on them, but it really does not impede my being able to read other posts if I want, so while is it a little annoying and they should work on how to prevent it, it doesn't make it difficult for me to use the site at all. You don't have to read them, obviously, you can tell what they are. It's not like the entire page is filled with them so there is only one real post and 50 fake ones.

I have been hitting the triangle but haven't said I did to top the post back up. I was traveling in the UK last week so it was very early in the morning here in the US hoping that they would be gone before too many people saw them. I was hitting the triangle early this morning too but only got to 4 of them as I had to get ready for work.

I get up early in the Mtn time zone and like to check in here while I enjoy a cup of tea. Hard to do with all the spam. I have spent some time lately trianglimg all the spam, but half the time the Fodors servers are so slow that it takes much longer than it should. The rest of the time the report abuse doesn't load properly on my iPad and I have to repeat the process.
Just about done here honestly.

The most recent ploy is making the name of the topic the link to the website which goes directly to the spam with no chance to hit the triangle.
How much does Random House get paid for the "How to fix crepey skin" ad at the bottom of the page?

I've been "triangle"ing obvious advertisers for years. The process has become SO slow lately that just recently (within the past week or so), I decided to not bother. I've "given in" a few times -- only to be reminded of why I decided to leave it to others....
