Recommendation for Jersey Shore for family w/kids, mid-week stay
Hello. We are trying to get down to the beach and would like ideas and info. about location and accomodations. We are traveling with 3 kids (9,5,2) so maybe not in noisy area.

Spring Lake is a lovely place. And it is near Pt. Pleasant which has a boardwalk your kids will love! So, stay in quiet Spring Lake, enjoy their beach and then spend an evening on the boards.

Spring Lake is nice, but it doesn't have accomodations that would make sense for a family with three kids unless you're willing to pay a premium. There are more budget accomodations nearby but they would require that you get in your car to drive to the beach. Not an optimal situation with three kids.
I might suggest looking at Long Beach Island.
We've stayed at both the Engleside Inn and Coral Seas Oceanfront Motel in Beach Haven. Either one would work for access to the beach and quiet family fun.
It's a bit further to get to LBI (assuming north Jersey or NY) but once there I think it has more of a beach feel than Spring Lake. There's plenty of mini golf, a few stores, and plenty of places to eat.
(If you do head to LBI, there is a WalMart on Route 72 in Manahawkin, a few miles from the causeway bridge, to pick up snacks, drinks, etc for the week.)

We love LBI, however, it does not have a boardwalk and very limited amusements for young family. LBI does have Treasure Island which is an amusement area, but it doesn't have the boardwalk "feel". Also, LBI only has a few family hotels. Look into Ocean City a bit further south but not as far as Wildwood.

We've stayed in Ocean City with our three children and we had a blast on the boardwalk, the amusement rides, and the beach. We booked a three bedroom rental a block from the beach and a few blocks down from the boardwalk. It was a convenient walk to everything and being a few blocks away from the boardwalk it was reasonably quiet. There was a grocery within walking distance and we had many of our meals at our rental.
I believe we found our rental through vrbo.com.
