The Inn is in an upscale suburban community, not near any of the tourist areas of San Diego. I haven't stayed there, but the restaurant is excellent, great food, great service and fabulous wine list.

You will be near nothing in Rancho Bernardo.
Look at the spas in Carlsbad or Del Mar, where the beach is only a short drive away (actually a walk, in Del Mar).
Or in La Jolla, you will be close to the beach and not too far from most of the major tourist attractions.

In it's day, the RBI was a top notch resort and we used to always go to El Bizcocho which has wonderful French Cuisine.. I don't know what they are charging and when you are going but I would stay at La Costa Resort or Rancho Valencia Resort both have wonderful spa packages and are in a better location...
I would try Expedia.com or go direct to see who has the better deal..
lacosta.com
ranchovalencia.com
Best to you!

Stayed there over Christmas some years ago. We were all in our mid-40s. Way too young for the place.
