Which is best in San Diego?- Catamarran Resort/Bahia Resort/Oceanpark Inn?
Can anyone give me a critique/comparison of these 3 properties? Looking for a place for 12 middle-aged (that hurts, but we have to be honest on Fodor's) women to bond for a long weekend in August. We want to kick back and relax, walk on the beach, sit and talk and drink margaritas.
Thanks! Jan

Although it has been a long time since I have lived in S.D. I think I would choose the Catamaran. The Cat and Bahia are both older properties and I cannot comment on Oceanpark Inn. The Catamaran is in PB with many little restaurants to walk to and the beach is right across the street. I assume you will have a car, if so have a drink, shop, and have fun in quaint La jolla.

Stayed at the Bahia this past August - really liked it - not fancy but very resorty and great location to the beach and bay and rest of San Diego - don't miss seaport village and La Jolla. Make sure you get a suite

I would NOT recommend the Catamaran. Gets lots of weddings and lots of families with kids. Poor service and rooms not great. Can't comment on the others you mention. I'd pick La Jolla or Coronado for location. Estancia La Jolla gets great reviews. It's not right on the water and not right in downtonw La Jolla, but it's got a great spa and great service. Asume you'll have wheels. Other idea is renting a condo or 2 or 3.

i love the catamaran location and the pool area is very nice. if you got a bay view, that would be very nice. i hear the rooms are basic and some people have said it's over priced for what you get.
i've never read any complaints about the ocean park inn and that's a good location too.

I stayed at the CAT a couple of times. Great hotel in a great location! The Bahia is in Mission Beach...not so great. Also, if you like sushi, the Cat has the best Sunday champagne brunch for sushi anywhere in San Diego County!
