Rainbow Room or The VIew??

Hi. I have read that the food may NOT be fabulous at either of these 2 restaurants BUT the overall experience (food, view, service, etc.) would be good.

Any preferences between the two?

Thanks!

If I remember correctly you don't need to order dinner in the Rainbow Room. We had a table by the window looking out at the Empire State bldg as the sun was setting. The view was spectacular and my vodka/tonic was pretty good too, especially since it was $15. plus tip.

And yes, we left a great tip for a table like that.

In either place the view is great. Drinks are fine. Food is not good- not awful - but distinctly not good. I always reco going for a drink or dessert - and have a much beter dinner elsewhere.

Go to the Rainbow Grille and have drinks.

Take the money you would have wasted on the food there and treat yourself at either Daniel or Gramercy Tavern.

Your taste buds will then be forever in your debt.

Funny, I was just at the RR this morning. The breakfast wasn't anything great. The view is fantastic though.

Drinks would be a good way to get the experience without wasting $$ on an average meal.

and if you want good food and a view, go to the River Cafe.

You can also go to the View (which revolves) for dessert.

The food at the Rainbow Room is really nothing special. Go for drinks.

I agree with mclaurie...The River Cafe has both good food and a wonderful view.
