South-west from Sedona and a bit off the straight path to Phoenix via the freeway.

Many people stop in Jerome and then take the scenic route over the mountain to Prescott, then back to the freeway (or if you have all day, to Wickenburg and then Phoenix). Many others will stop in Jerome and then backtrack a few miles to Cottonwood and then to the freeway.

is it on the way to phoenix?

Not really, but an interesting detour if you have the time.

Hi Judi..
That might of been me..
From Sedona to Jerome is about 30 minute drive and take 89A then right at Cottonwood..
We get back on the freeway from Jerome down the hill to I-17..takes about the same time from Jerome to the Camp Verde/freeway..
I stop and have lunch at Asylum at the Jerome Grand Hotel and shop a little with the great shops and then head back to Phoenix.
Jerome is a great place and is full of character.

if you go to Jerome, go to the museum its great very informative.
Great place for lunch The Red Roaster..The Asylum is so so for lunch. Best coffee The Flatiron cafe.
For artgo to the old high school building where the artist's have their studios.
Cool town lots of characters, and history, views are great from everywhere including Raku gallery.

Been going to the Asylum restaurant in Jerome for the last several years and it has only gotten better and I try and be the first reservation so I don't have to wait for a table..food has always been outstanding and I consider myself a food snob to some degree..
lots of awards but it shows from the food and the wait..just my 2 cents.
Let's us know how your trip was..
