Question about Ft. Lauderdale airport
We'll be flying Newark to Ft. Lauderdale and doing carry-on only. When we arrive at Ft. Lauderdale (via Continental), is there somewhere at the airport where we can buy sunblock? After landing, we jump in a taxi to go to a nearby hangar to catch a private charter to one of the Out Island of the Bahamas.
Thank you.
Thank you.

There are sundry shops in the airport there and although I've never been looking for sunblock when I was there waiting to fly, I would imagine they probably carry it. I remember seeing a wall of various health and beauty aids at one of the shops. If you are really worried, you could buy a couple 3 oz bottles and put sunblock in them and then zip them in a qt sized bag.

Thanks GBC. Since you also say I can find it at the airport, I will just go that route. I'm not comfortable shipping it only because we're going to a tiny cay in the Exuma chains and I just don't know/trust that it'll get there on time.

You will also be able to find sunblock on Exuma so don't worry about not having any. Even the small islands have some shops, for locals and tourists, so you will be able to find it there as well as at the airport.
Have a GREAT time and please post a trip report when you get back.

There are several brands of sunblock that come in 'wipe' form - in a little sealed pouch, with a sunblock moistened wipe with SPF factors of at leat 30. They're like hand wipes. You might look into packing some of these since they are not liquids they should go through security just fine. Then you could get more sunblock when you arrive.

Melissa19: We're using http://www.watermakersair.com/
They come highly recommended. We bought our tickets in January and the price was $400/person roundtrip Ft. Lauderdale to Staniel Cay. With taxes, the bill for 2 came to $948. A bit more than going through the regional airlines but worth the cost IMO since we'll avoid Nassau and the so-so on time performance of those local airlines.
Not sure which out island you're thinking about, but Continental does go to some of them via FLL. Good luck.
Travelbuff: We're staying on Staniel Cay and the resort actually recommends we bring our own.. just in case. I will definitely post a report. 3 weeks to go!
dsgmi: I did not know that. I'll look for that. Thanks!
