Puerto Rico - Please Help

Hello Friends,

We are traveling to Puerto Rico for the first time and wanted to make sure we don't miss any key place. So appreciate yoour response to the following questions -

1) The "must-see" places. We also have kids under 5 yrs but since 2 familes exist we can take turns.
2) Do the casinos require formal attire? Or do jeans/shorts work?

We leave tomorrow night, so appreciate your responses.

FYI, we will be there for 3 days.

Thanks so so very much,

Dodz.

I am basing this on San Juan only. You can get away with casual in the casinos. Also, be prepared they are not big and elaborate like LV or Atlantic City. They are much smaller.

The tour of the fort (self-guided) is definitely worth the time.

Walking around downtown is a must.

I'd go visit the rain forest if you can.

Do not waste time with a visit to Ponce. Do not do it!

Check the Caribbean board, you'll have better luck. The rain forest, Vieques & Rincon.

If you are only going to be there 3 days then I would opt for Rincon, you'll not have enough time for Vieques, although there is plenty to do in & around San Juan.

Ahh, I forgot to ask one important question.

My wife is a veggie. Any good vegetarian places out there?

Thank you so much friends. BTW, I just found out that we are staying in a place named Isle Verde and will have a rental car for ourselves.

I am at work right now, but will print out this thread and links later today.

Keep them coming, if any and thanks again for your help.

I'll keep you posted on how the trip was.

Regards,

Dodz.

We loved Ponce- there is a zocolo- a main square which is just like those found all over Latin America and reminded me of my trips there. The entire town comes out at night to just sit and enjoy ice cream and stroll. There are pretty buildings, too. It might be interesting to see a simpler form of 'family fun."

We were also down that way after visiting a coffee farm/mill which was historic and interesting biut I forget the name.

Lastly do some sort of bio bay boat trip- unforgettable!
