top ten in san juan
(let me preface this by saying this is the first time i have posted something on the internet--i guess that ages me from the start.) anyway, i have a friend who raves about this site so i thought i would give it a stab even though it's the eleventh hour before my trip.
my husband and i are taking our 12 year old daughter away for a 4 day weekend as of this thurs. we're deliberately not bringing a friend so we have her undivided attention so i would love to hear what people have to say about cross generational" top ten" things to do in puerto rico. she's a pretty good sport and adventurous when it come to food. we love local flavor--food and otherwise. would greatly appreciate any feedback from all you seasoned travelers out there.

You may get more answers on the Caribbean board.
We are headed to San Juan in a couple of months and we have 12 and 14 year old girls so I have been looking for the same info.
I would take her to the El Yunque Rain Forest and Loquillo Beach. That would be a good day trip and would need you to rent a car.
I would also take her to the El Morro Fort in Old San Juan and maybe some shopping there. There are many good restaurants in Old San Juan. I keep reading about the Parrot Club and Aqua viva as good ones.
Take her on a snorkel cruise to the Spanish virgin islands (Vieques or Culebra).
These are some of the things that we plan to do. Hope you enjoy your trip.

On the left hand column of the screen you're looking at you should see a list of all the posted messages. At the top of that column is a box with a downward arrow. Click on the arrow, and a list of the the various Forums will appear. Highlight CARRIBEAN, that will take you to the Carribean Board (Forum).
At the top of the screen under the orange Fodors banner is a box that says SEARCH. You can type in a search word ("beaches", or "top Ten sights", etc). Next to that search box is another downward arrow.....click that and you'll see an alphabetical list of all the Carribean countries. Highlight PUERTO RICO and click on SEARCH.
All past topics will appear in the left side message column. You can read these to see if you can find info helpful to you planning sites to see with your daughter.
Enjoy your trip!!
