The firm that we use, ForEyes Optical, cuts its lenses in Florida (although we make our purchases in Boston and NYC). They have a great selection of discounted designer frames and we have always been pleased. Maybe someone on this board has been to the store in Orlando.

I would think that in order to have them ready in time for your departure, you would need to go there right away - the process usually takes 2 weeks.

In order to look for a place in the Yellow Pages, online, or by word of mouth it would be better to call them perscription glasses or just glasses. I don't know if you might be from outside of the US, but call them glasses for the best results in Orlando.

Am I missing something here? The fact that you're calling them spectacles makes me think you're British or ???
Wouldn;t it be much less expensive and more convenient to buy them at home than in the US? (I had two pairs of glasses made last week - one reading, one sun, granted with designer frames - but even with the coupon discount it was almost $500.)
Or are you looking for some specific designer frames not available where you are?

I've used For Eyes for about 20 years and swear by them. They are very reaonably priced, have a good selection, and I've never had a single thing wrong with the glasses that was their fault, and they have excellent customer service. I have used them when living in both California and Maryland, but I know their lab is in Florida. However, glasses always take 1-2 weeks to be made.
I would never do such a thing myself, unless you have a really simple foolproof prescription, as if you need adjustments or have any problems, you won't be there to take them back and have them remade. That is one thing I like about For Eyes-- I had to have one pair made three times due to errors in the prescription from my (former) optometrist, not For Eyes -- and even though it wasn't at all their fault, they remade them twice at no cost. These were not cheap glasses, either, being progressive, high-index lenses. I have a friend who told me his private fancy eyeglass company where he paid about $500 for his glasses wouldn't do that.

Tried to find a Lenscrafters (makes them in an hour) or 20/20 in Kissimmee with no luck...I know Sam's Club has optical, but you would need to buy a membership too....If you find yourself up at a mall like Mall of Millenia, there is a Lenscrafters there, i am not sure how long you will be in town and they do them quickly if that is an important factor...
