I've been to Prescott several times because I have family that lives nearby. It is a really nice town with a pretty square and a nice museum. The surrounding area is beautiful.

Prescott is beautiful. I grew up in PHX, and I miss northern AZ more then the warm weather. I have never stayed at Rocamadour, we always camped. But if you do go, you have to go to Sedona, it's not that far from Prescott. Depending on what time of the year you go, Slide Rock in Sedona is fun and beautiful, there is water running through rocks and you slide down. Also, if you are going to go you should also check out Flagstaff. Prescott, Sedona, and Flagstaff are pretty close to each other and the drive is wonderful. That whole area is full of great scenic hiking and it is so peaceful and gorgeous. I hope you make it there.

Before I bought in Michigan because I just loved my lake, my other option was Prescott. If it hadn't been so far from my family in the Midwest, I think I would have bought there. Wonderful and beautiful town with much around worth visiting and varying climate in each direction.

Wasn't Prescott identified as one of the best retirement cities in the U.S. some time ago? It certainly seems to have a more temperate climate than Phoenix. Actually, the temps are very similar to DC throughout the year, but I'm guessing humidity in the summer is much lower than DC. On the otherhand, it appears Prescott receives a ton of snow.
