PORTLAND, OR. Restaraunt for Thanksgiving?
I admit it....we miss our college daughter so much that we're looking for excuses to 'be in the neighborhood" (which isn't easy when she's in Oregon and we're in Honolulu!).
Can anyone suggest a nice place for a group of about 12 people to have Thanksgiving dinner in Portland?

The McMenamins lodges have some sort of buffet. For example, the Kennedy School in NE Portland, Edgefield in Troutdale (east of Portland), or the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove (west of Portland). If you luck out and get nice weather, it's a short drive from Troutdale to the Columbia River Gorge. Otherwise, the grounds on the Edgefield and Grand Lodge are nice to walk around, unless the weather is terrible.

The McMenamins properties are unique to Oregon - never been to one for Thanksgiving buffet but it should be an interesting experience.

I 2nd the vote for the Heathman, Portland's most beautiful hotel. Close to PSU plus chef Phillipe Boulot and his pastry chef wife Susan work wonders with the NW's best food. We enjoyed a superb tasting menu there--it's the perfect site for a memorable holiday get-together.
