Maybe I am totally frazzled about travelling & I do know how this board works.I asked my daughter to check the post & she couldn't find it. I have lost a post here before. And yes I wanted to know if it would pop mid-air.

Don't you remember the lesson from elementary school - in the Fall...when our teachers would tell us how popcorn "pops" because of a small amount of moisture in the kernal that explodes when heat is added - you have POPCORN!!!

Lets not be quite so harsh. mommacl has probably heard something about vacuum popping and wondered if the pressure dropped low enough in the cargo area for that to happen.

This reminds me an earlier discussion on another site about the compression packing bags causing luggage to explode in the airplane. The poster believed it was a big problem for airlines and could cause the plane to crash. The lack of fundamental understanding for basic physics is sad.

Keith, I doubt if that was the original thought. But it is the same kind of thinking that requires bicycle tires to be deflated before shipping as luggage. Concern about tires "exploding" at the same time no one worries about airplane tires exploding. Not much vaccum at 30,000 feet.

Just for your (and your daughter's) info - the only foolproof way to find your posts is to click on your name.
most of the forums (except for "News and Announcements") are quite active and a thread willl drop off the first page pretty quickly - especially during USA daytime hours.

Excuse me, but I don't think I was rude first!
Thank you, Dukey.
Yes Keith...the pressure dropping low enough in the cargo area for that to happen was my thoght.
I didn't think the chances were that great, but it was a lot more interesting question than "what's the best hotel in _____", posted right after "whats the best hotel in _____".
I didn't know the questions here needed to be up to some standard, or you get jumped!
And I quess I'm the only one who posted 2x's.

As someone who posts occasionally, I have to say that I have noticed a "nasty undertone" before- not even including this post. I may be wrong, but it seems that some "professional" travelers get "upset" when an "unprofessional" traveler may ask an "unprofessional" question. I notice that often times the reply will be to "look up the same topic". Maybe someone wants another opinion. Now I know that this doesn't have to do with microwave popcorn. I hope that I am not upsetting the "professional" poppers!
