Polynesian Hotel at WDW

Does anyone know if they check room keys (or other ID) at the pool? We will be at WDW with friends who are not staying on-property and may want to take a break in the middle of the day to go to the pool. Were wondering if our friends could join us. Thanks.

They did not check last year at the Hard Rock. I went to the pool without my room key and they gave me towels with no problem.

The only pool I have ever seen them check, and check CLOSELY, is the one at the Yacht and Beach which a LOT of people who ARE staying on property at other Disney hotels would like to use but cannot do so.

I've never seen them check at the Grand Floridian or at the Boardwalk so i suspect the Polynesian may be similar but topping for you and other possible comments.

Since when is there a Hard Rock at WDW? Is there one at Disneyland?

Yes, the upscale hotels they check ID especially if it is crowded. The only times I've not seen them check is if we were at one of the All Star Hotels.

I would tell you to post your question on disboards.com for the comments of folks who go to WDW all the time...but you'd have to have a really strong flame-proof suit. "Uunauthorized" pool use is one of the pet peeves on that board.

Since you are staying there, presumably you are w/another adult and you both have Room key IDs....just switch partners and use one ID for each couple and children group, and see if that works....usually one ID per party suffices, even when we stay at the Beach Club. We have never brought in non-guests, but we do not all bring our room ID with us, so there are more people than IDs, if that helps....

After a while, all theme parks start looking the same. ;-)

In answer to the OPs question, yes, I have seen them checking IDs at the Polynesian - it was during a fairly busy time.

We stayed at the Yacht Club Resort Hotel on site last week and they did check keys. However, I didn't have my key with me and told them my husband had it, who was at another area and they let me in without any problem.

I have been with my family many times to WDW. One of our favorite days is to get the breakfast at the Polynesian (the Tonga toast is unbelievable), park the car, go to Magic Kingdom, take a break midday at the pool, go back, then finish up at Ohana Rest at Polynesian... great food.

just got back yesterday; we traveled with another family who stayed at the Grand Floridian and went back and forth between the pools; at neither pool were we asked for ID and it was busy!

I am going to do a trip report, but am happy to answer any questions.

We loved the Polynesian; in the afternoon and evening it is so nice to take the boat to and from the MK.
