PLZ HELP!!!! Going to Ft. Lauderdale!!
Help!! We are going to Ft. Lauderdale for vacation in a couple of weeks and having a hard time choosing where to stay. I've checked out priceline for Harbor Marriott but the going rate is $100 a night. Is that reasonable? Seems high to me. My other choice was Lago Mar. I've read good reviews, but I think they may be close or higher than the Marriott. Which resort is better? We want to stay on the beach. Any other hotel recommendations?

Lilley, it depends on when you are going. Thanksgiving week? It will be very expensive. Any other time in November or the first two weeks of December should be reasonable. You cannot go by rates others are posting.

Winter rates are always higher than summer rates in South Florida. Marriott Harbor Beach is a great hotel for $100 (I know people who paid $200 for this hotel in the Summer.)
Lago Mar is also very nice on a more private area of the beach, but you need to walk through a residential neighborhood to get to the main drag.
You'll enjoy either resort.

The standard rooms at the Lago Mar have in addition to the bedroom, a sitting area as well as a wet bar area with plates, utensils, coffee maker, etc. If you can, try and get a room overlooking the beach. A friend of mice had one of them and it was a large suite with a bedroom, bath, living room (not sure if the sofa had a bed) with a dining table and a kitchen area with a stove, sink, and full size refrigerator.
