Please Help...with reservations
Hello all.. I booked us into the Orleans hotel because of the reviews, the only problem is the shuttle service. My wife and I will be out past midnight and the shuttle stops around midnight. Can anyone help with the cost of a cab back to the hotel. Now I also booked Imperial palace because of the location, but it has gotten mixed reviews. So do WE go for location, or the comfort and the good reviews of the Orleans.

Hmmm, I believe it depends where you are on the strip. The Orleans is closest to the part of the strip with New York New York, Excalibur, Luxor, etc. I'm guessing cab fare might be between $7-10? I take the cab to & from the Stardust to Downtown, and that is about $12-14.
I don't know anything about the Imperial Palace except for its excellent location on the strip. what does TripAdvisor.com say? Those reviews tend to be spot on.

Given a choice between Imperial Palace and Orleans I'd choose Orleans. I.P. is a real dump. While I have never stayed at Orleans I attended a conference there and those who did stay there liked it alot. Cab fare from the Mirage to Orleans was about $12-$15 depending on traffic. From closer hotels it would be a dollar or two less.
As for my opinion on I.P. a friend stayed there last year and we went over to meet her. The hallways are narrow and creepy feeling, the rooms were Motel6 style and had a dark/dank feeling about them. The casino was very very smokey. By comparison the Orleans was light and airy. Yes, IP is center strip, but I would not stay there.

Imperial Palace is fine. Much older than the Orleans but the rooms are well-kept. If they give you a room that's near a noisy old elevator or something, just demand a different room.
However, if you're down at the Mandalay end of the strip after midnight, you'd still need a cab ride to get back to the Imperial Palace, and with all the traffic jams, riding the strip on a Fri or Sat night can take longer than getting to the Orleans.
