k_marie, sorry we will miss you even though we are staying in town. If you check around the local pubs they might have a euchre tournament night you two can participate in. It is usually a winter 'reason' to go to the bar but you never know.
There is a sail boat cruise that leaves from GM everyday that should be worth sailing on. If you come upon something in G.M. that you recommend please top this thread with the info and we will give it a go. www.northshorevisitor.com/hiking-trails/
Enjoy Minnesota.

Be sure to stop at Betty's Pies on your way to Grand Marais. Get a Pasty (pass-ty) and amazing homemade pie. Sven and Ole's is a good place as well. My husband and I spend a weekend at the end of September on the North Shore every Year.

Vivi, thanks! Betty's is on the list.
In Stillwater, we are staying at the Elephant Walk b&b. Do you have any suggestions for dinner in Stillwater? Will we still be in walleye territory? Will we find locally grown tomatoes? (We'll be missing most of the NJ season for the best tomatoes and corn.) Need some local produce before the ice cream!
