Places to stay in Provincetown

Following my earlier thread about our Honeymoon in New England we have decided to stick with plan a and have 3 nights in Provincetown - we do need some time to chill out as well as travel!!

We looking for a nice Inn / B&B to stay in but I can find very little using Expedia - can anyone make recommendations / post links ?
Thanks

As one who loves Provincetown, I think you've made a great choice to spend 3 days. Other posted have noted that you could "see" it in a day - but this will give you time to explore, relax and get the "feel" as well. Taking the ferry and staying put for 3 days is a great way to avoid traffic hassles. Any resort area in New England is likely to have a 3 day minimum stay over Labor day weekend- where ever you stay.

There's quite a range of accomodations in P'town. I haven't stayed in an inn in awhile. The last one I stayed was Bradford Gardens Cottages, which was quaint B&B - with a great breakfast - that was over 5 years ago though.

Gizmo, so glad you decided to stay with your plan for 3 nights in Provincetown despite those critics on your earlier thread who advised against it.

Rumrita1 said it perfectly so I'll just give you some of my reccomendations:

Land's End Inn is one of the most romantic places to stay on Cape Cod and one of my favorites. It sits high atop a hill in the West End of town with awesome views of the harbor and the the moors.

In your previous post I mentioned the Provincetown Inn at one end of town and The Sandcastle Resort at the other. There are many B&B's and Inns at the center of town. One of the best right on the water is the Boatslip. Look at their websites.

Thanks for this. More suggestions welcome as I'm finding that a lot of places are already booked.

What should I be expecting to pay for a decent guest house / b&b - nothing fancy, but nice and clean ?

Gizmogirl, I think you'll need to spend $100-150 to get something nice/clean with a private bath. Here's a link to Frommers accomodations in P'town, which rates inns by price. This page also includes links to each inn described.

Some basics on P'Town - it is a long narrow strip of land. Commercial Street runs East-West the length of town, and is the town's "main drag." It fronts the bay side, so accomodations here may be on the water. Most stores/restuarants/clubs are in the center of town on Commercial street. Lodging in either the West or East End are quieter than being right in the heart of things in town. Bradford Street also runs East-West and is one block behind Commercial, not right on the water, but due to hills, might be able to get (more distant) water view here as well.

Good luck.

Sorry to disagree with the last poster, but I would NOT recommend the Red Inn. They are so overrated, quite over priced, the rooms are nothing special and they're not at all near the center. Worse of all, the owners are unbelievably rude--I wouldn't be suprised if the last post was from one of the owners. They seem not to care enough about repeat stays to be polite to their guests. There are a lot better choices of places to stay in Provincetown.

I would NOT recommend staying at THE RED INN.

I have only been for the afternoon tea dance, so I am surprised you suggested The Boat Slip. (Does anyone really stay there??)

Since we have not heard from Gizmogirl since late April I'm assuming she has found a place to stay or has given up in frustration.

Aquaman: I mentioned the Boatslip in hopes that someone reading this post that might be contemplating a stay in Provincetown in the off-season might give them a try.

The Boatslip as well as other fine accommodations in Provincetown need all the business they can get in the off-season in order to bring you those great Tea Dances in the Summer.

I stay there as often as I can: They are located right in the center of town, have great views of the harbor and Bay, and parking right in front.

Gene:

I was in P'town this weekend and ran into a friend at the Boatslip's tea dance. He was staying at the hotel. Remembering this thread, I asked him how it was to stay there and he and his boyfriend raved.

Thanks for making me question my earlier assumption.
