Pillows in Hotel Rooms
What kind of a pillow do you like to find in hotel or motel rooms? Soft or Firm? Thick and fluffy or thin and flat?
I don’t like a lumpy pillow, of course, and I don’t like the thick, light-weight pillows some motels use—they give me a sore neck.
I prefer a pillow that is thin rather than thick and either soft of flat. How about you?

Ronkala, I'm not a troll. I ran a thread to find out what travelers look for in hotel rooms and the type of pillow was mentioned more than anything else. As you may know, hotels are now competing on the basis of the comfort of their beds. I travel a great deal; this topic interests me. Sorry, Lovingheart

If we are on a driving trip, I bring my own pillow, so I don't care. Same with a summer trip when clothes are lighter and take up less space - then I pack my pillow in my suitcase.
If I am on a trip without my pillow, I prefer to find lots of pillows on my hotel bed so that I can choose the best one.

Thick and fluffy down pillows are very nice! I also prefer down comforters or something comprable for coverings.
When we stayed at the Plaza Hotel in Ashland, OR I loved the fact that they had a pillow "menu" there. I chose the big, fluffy body pillow that was very nice. You could choose from several others. Not too many places offer that option, it was nice! ***kim***

No pillow menu but the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, MA, had at least 10 pillows on our king size bed. Lots of different sizes and types. A couple to sleep on, a couple to throw on the floor, a couple to whack the snoring spouse, etc.

I like feather pillows that aren't totally flat.
I often bring my own pillow to hotels, and have realized that if you do bring your own, make sure you have a boldly colored pillowcase. If you use a white or light one, the pillow can get lost on the bed and you'll leave it in the room.
