Phoenix/Chandler

We are thinking about a long weekend in this area, need to stay near Chandler but have read that chandler is all residential and no fun, so somewhere close to there. My husband and I and our 2 kids 4 and 6 are looking for a good hotel, fun for kids with a kid friendly pool. Also, we will be there during Easter, any suggestions on easter brunch for families with good food? Thank you!

You have heard correctly, nothing fun about Chandler. You might check out the Pointe Hilton resorts, they have water parks and things that will amuse kids. The pointe south mountain is closest to Chandler but I am not sure if they have water features like the Squaw Peak or Pointe Tapatio have. The Hilton website should have information.

The Point South Mountain is not a Hilton Hotel. Check out their web site. I believe that they just added a water park which your kids should enjoy.

KKJ is correct. The Hilton chain sold the Pointe at South Mountain. That said, it is still a wonderful resort and one that is fairly close to Chandler. Nothing much to do for tourists in Chandler, unfortunately. The Pointe (South Mountain) opened up the longest resort water slide in Arizona last year. On another note, although almost all Arizona resorts heat their pools year-round, they will still be quite cool at Easter time. However, if you are coming from a cold climate, the weather might feel refreshing. The Pointe at Tapatio cliffs offers a wonderful Sunday brunch.

I realize that it's a year later, but for other readers: beware of the Pointe South Mountain. It's a convention and conference hotel, and they overbook. I had made reservations, and had them confirmed, by the hotel, not some third party like Orbitz. When we arrived we were told that there wwas no room available and we were instead directed to the Legacy, which is a golf-oriented timeshare several miles away. Hardly equivalent, and not at all what we had tried to book. Fortunately, the reservationist at the Buttes took pity on us and gave us an excellent rate on an excellent room. We've stayed many times at the Buttes and always enjoyed the palce and the service.
