California Cuisine is lean, small portions so you don't get fat....presented with flair on the plate because in California looks are everything.....served by a waiter who wants to be an actor...and not available for takeout unless you order by cellphone and pick it up in a limousine.
In Pasadena....Courtyard by Marriott is a great choice if you can find a decent rate, you'd be walking distance to everything near Old Town and wouldn't have to worry about finding parking whenever you venture out to eat.

Actually, Courtyard has 2 good reviews, and one negative from someone who says that the rooms are small but goes on to say that it is clean & nice.
On Tripadvisor, "Popularity" is based on number of reviews, not quality of the hotel really.
But, at half the price, Saga looks like an affordable choice...and it is a bit better location than the Comfort Inn. You might check for a "managers special" or lower AAA rate at Courtyard however. There's also a Hilton and a Westin nearby that sometimes have special rates on expedia.com
